JEFF BEZOS EXPANDS HIS WATERFRONT EMPIRE IN MIAMI

Billionaire Jeff Bezos has made headlines again with his recent $87 million purchase of a third waterfront estate in the exclusive Indian Creek Village, bringing his total investment in the area to $144 million.

Just last week, Bezos acquired a stunning 10,000-square-foot mansion at 28 Indian Creek Island Road. This seven-bedroom, seven-bathroom estate was bought under the Sunshine Trust and follows his previous purchases on the island.

As the third richest person in the world, with a net worth exceeding $197 billion, Bezos is no stranger to luxury real estate. This latest acquisition comes less than a year after he purchased two adjacent waterfront properties, which he plans to redevelop into a larger estate.

Indian Creek Island is renowned for its celebrity residents, including Tom Brady, Julio Iglesias, and Ivanka Trump with Jared Kushner. The island is guard-gated, ensuring privacy and exclusivity for its elite inhabitants. Recently, another waterfront home on the island sold for $64.5 million in an off-market deal.

Bezos’ new property spans nearly 2 acres and features a pool and dock. Originally built in 1956, the house has been expanded in 1986 and 2014. The previous owner, former banker Javier Holtz, purchased the home for $2.5 million in 1998.

While Bezos and his fiancée, Lauren Sanchez, look for a move-in ready mansion, they are also overseeing the construction of a new estate on nearby properties at 11 and 12 Indian Creek Island Road. In October, Bezos paid $79 million for the estate at 12 Indian Creek, brokered by Dina Goldentayer and Danilo Tavares of Douglas Elliman. In June 2023, he bought the adjacent mansion for $68 million, brokered by Sohely van Woerkom of Golden Ocean Real Estate.

Bezos’ connection to South Florida runs deep. He graduated from Miami Palmetto Senior High School in 1982, and two years ago, his parents, Mike and Jackie Bezos, bought two waterfront homes in Coral Gables for $78
