If you purchased a home in Jupiter (or anywhere in Florida) in 2025 and made it your primary residence, stop what you are doing.

You have a hard deadline approaching.

Monday, March 2, 2026 is the deadline to file for your Florida Homestead Exemption. (Note: The deadline is typically March 1st, but since that falls on a Sunday this year, you have until Monday).

Missing this date doesn't just cost you a few hundred dollars. It can cost you thousands in immediate savings and uncaps your future assessed value, potentially costing you tens of thousands over the life of your ownership.

Why It Matters (The Math)

The Immediate Discount: It reduces your property's assessed value by up to $50,000 for non-school taxes.
The "Save Our Homes" Cap: This is the real wealth builder. It caps the annual increase of your property's assessed value at 3% (or the CPI, whichever is lower).
- Scenario: If your home value jumps 20% next year (not uncommon in Jupiter), your taxes can only go up 3%. Without Homestead, your taxes could skyrocket with the market.
